This Saturday 6th January there will be coaching sessions for junior children aged 7-11 from 11.00 to 12.00 and will run for approximately 12 weeks. Children can just drop in and don’t need to attend all sessions. The sessions will be taking place at the Kent County Ground, Worsley Bridge Road BR3 1RL.
Some year 6 children took part in a basketball tourmnament at Bonus Pastor on the 30 November. Well done to the team that took part, they came third and showed amazing sportsamnship. The children won, lost and drew a match. During every match they showed teamwork and used differnt types of passes.
On Thursday 9th November, a group of year 5 and 6 children went to Bonus Pastor to take part in an Athletics competition. They took part in field and relay races.
The field events the children took part in were speed bounce, standing long jump, javelin and chest push.
The relays we took part in were a 2 by 1 lap relay, a 4 by 1 lap relay, a 2 by 2 lap relay, a 4 by 2 lap relay for boys and girls teams and a 4 by 1 lap mixed relay.
The children won the competition, we are very proud of them. Thank you to the parents who came to support us.
Year 6 were invited to visit the Houses of Parliament , starting with a tour of parts of the building including the House of Commons and the House of Lords whilst they were in session. Everybody was awestruck by the splendour and vastness of the building and were fascinated by interesting facts such as the Queen is not allowed to enter the House of Commons!
The second part of the visit was held in the Education Centre when the class was divided into parties and had to present their manifesto to the constituents and persuade them to vote for them . There was great excitement when Ellie Reeves, our own MP for Lewisham West and Penge, arrived to meet us. She was most impressed by the quality and depth of the childrens’ questions to her and hopes to visit St Augustine’s very soon.

The children of Y6 had been offered a fantastic opportunity to take part of the BMX Legacy Programme, provided by Access Sport. The sessions commenced on the 21st of October and the children were very much looking forward to Thursday afternoon when they walked to Beckenham Place park to the new BMX tracks. They practised their steering, braking and balancing skills and became determined to do even better on the next session.
There is a open day this Saturday 30th September from 2pm-5pm. The children can bring their bikes or scooters and try the new BMX track. For anyone who does not have a bike they will have some at the track and helmets.
On Monday 17th July years 4,5 and 6 were lucky enough to be able to go the World Para Athletic Championships. The children saw track and field events for 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres. The track events the children saw were long jump, shot put and discus.
While there the children saw Sophie Kamlish beat her own world record in the 100 metre sprint for Great Britain.She ran 100 metres in 12.90 seconds wow! The atmosphere in the London Stadium was amazing and the children cheered on all the athletes but especially team GB.

Year 6 had a very successful first ‘Go Ride’ cycle session with Nathaniel the instructor. They were taught how to conduct a bike safety check using ABC (Air, Brakes and Chain). The children then set off around the playground using their upper body strength to ride standing up. They were encouraged to level pedals when in their starting positions.

On a very hot afternoon,the Year 6 girls played in their first netball tournament at Bonus Pastor School. They had to play 4 matches in a round robin tourrnament and as the the afternoon went on they just got better and better, especially at their passing down the court.
