Year 4 Class Trip to the Junior Chefs Academy at the Green Man

Year 4 enjoyed a fun and educational experience at the Junior Chef’s Academy, where they got the chance to make their own pizzas and take them home! The children enjoyed training as a chef at the Lewisham Training Kitchen, situated at the Green Man. They explored aspects of Health and Safety with regards to cooking and hygiene practices, as well as learning more about the importance of having a Healthy Diet. Year 4 were given aprons and guided through the process of preparing ingredients to create the dough and top the pizza. They enjoyed watching Chef Oghosa demonstrate how to knead and roll the dough, and took part in cooking the sauce. The smell from the ovens was delightful as the children all did the washing up and tidied everything away. They couldn’t wait to see the final results. The pizzas were delicious!

A walk in the park.

Thank you to all the adults who came to help us. The children had a great time at the park exploring and finding lots of signs that winter is coming. The noisy parakeets were a favourite of the children because they were green and loud!

Observing seasonal change is part of our science and the children enjoyed looking at the mushrooms, berries, leaves and conker shells that we found.

The art work they produced was amazing and is on display in our class.

Rex’s Baptism

Rex Rabbit joined our Nursery this week and he will be visiting the children in their homes in the coming weeks. He also became a member of God’s family: he wore white, we said our Nursery prayer, lit a candle and poured water on his head. It was a beautiful celebration.

Athletics competiton

Well done the group of year 5 and 6 children who came to competition at Bonus Pastor.  The children were praised by the organizers for how well behaved they were and good sportsmanship.

As this was a team event all the children did 4 events individually and then the scores were averaged out to get a team score across track and field events.

As a team we came fourth and we are so proud of the way the children represented our school.

Guy Fawkes and bonfire night

Year 1 had great fun making pastel pictures of fireworks and using bubble paint and powder paint to create some artwork.

They also learnt about the history of bonfire night and how to be safe.

Diwali Celebrations 2018

Reception Class children have had a wonderful week celebrating the feast of Diwali.  They have been using the traditional Hindu greeting – Namaste!  They had a lot of fun making their own rainbow rice which they played with throughout the week.

The children very much enjoyed the story of Rama and Sita and have all made clay diva lamps to help guide Rama and Sita back on their journey.  The children painted Rangoli patterns, traditionally a symbol of welcome.  They also made sweets, traditionally given to children during Diwali celebrations.  Making the sweets was hard work as the mixture was especially sticky.  The sweets were delicious.  The children have been dancing to Indian music and Tamil music throughout the week and finished the week with a circle time, where they quietly reflected on the week’s activities.  They also found out what it was like to meditate in the traditional style.  Happy Diwali.  Namaste!
