The Stone Age

This term in humanities year 3 has been learning all about the Stone Age. We first looked at how long ago the Stone Age was by creating a human timeline with toilet paper. All the children were shocked to see how long ago the Stone Age first started. We have also looked closely at how Stone Age people hunted and gathered food when shops didn’t exist. After researching the different tools pupils were given the chance to design their own tool and make it out of clay. Our next step is to add sticks and rope to complete their Stone Age tool.  I know the children will be so excited to show them to you when they are complete and tell you what their tool is design for.

St Paul’s Cathedral visit

Year 2 have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. They were taken back in time to 1666 during their visit to St Paul’s Cathedral. The children were taken on a guided walk around the Crypt and Cathedral floor to find memorials from Old St Paul’s that survived the Great Fire. Through storytelling, they learnt about how the fire started in Pudding Lane and quickly spread. With the aid of role play scripts they dressed up and acted out what it was like during the Great Fire of London.

A huge thank you to our parent helpers who made our visit even more special.

A Visit to our Church

Reception have been visiting our church.  We tried to go in the big doors but they were closed.  Luckily, we had a key to a secret door.  We crept in quietly and had a good look around the church.  We then had a sit down in the church pews where we will be sitting on Monday next for our Harvest Festival.  The children very much enjoyed the visit.

English in Year 1

We have just finished our first topic using the book ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’ by Oliver Jeffers, the children made their own books and did not eat them like Henry did.

The class have now started to read ‘My Granny went to market’ it is a counting story where Granny visits many countries and buys something special in each place.

Football Tournament

Well done to the girls’ and boys’ football teams that took part in the tournament last Thursday. The year 5 and 6 children who came to the tournament showed great team work and communication skills on the pitch. Both teams came in 5th place. We are proud of the way they represented our school.

The next event will be coming soon for year 5 and 6.
